Our Story

Winnipeg's Beloved Authentic Thai Restaurant

Coconut Island Thai Cuisine is a family-owned and operated restaurant on Pembina Highway, nestled in the heart of south Winnipeg's Fort Richmond community. Named after the breathtaking Coconut Island (Ko Phrao) — a serene island off the southwest coast of Thailand — the restaurant brings the vibrant flavours and warm hospitality of Thailand directly to Manitoba.

The menu is a celebration of traditional Thai cooking featuring time-honoured recipes, bold spices, and layers of complex flavour. Guests choose their spice level across most dishes — from mild to genuinely fiery. The kitchen prides itself on consistency, freshness, and generous portions, with gluten-free options (marked GF), vegetarian, vegan, and halal-certified chicken dishes available.

In May 2026, Coconut Island celebrated a significant milestone — 10 years of serving the Pembina Highway community.
